Taiwan Trip

Happy New Year 2008!
I'll end this year's post with my Taiwan trip photos. Quite a different trip because we spent most of our time traveling by bus and we've been to all night markets from north to south and east to west throughout the whole island. Enjoy the photos!

Best Lawyer Story of the Year, Decade and Probably the Century

Having nothing much to write about, I've decided to share this story with you guys which I find quite amusing from a forwarded e-mail. Hope you guys like it!

"This is an absolutely amazing true story...

Charlotte, North Carolina.

A lawyer purchased a box of very rare and expensive cigars, then insured them against, among other things, fire.

Within a month, having smoked his entire stockpile of these great cigars and without yet having made even his first premium payment on the policy. The lawyer filed a claim against the insurance company.

In his claim, the lawyer stated the cigars were lost "in a series of small fires."

The insurance company refused to pay, citing the obvious reason, that the man had consumed the cigars in the normal fashion.
The lawyer sued.. And WON!

Delivering the ruling, the judge agreed with the insurance company that the claim was frivolous.
The judge stated nevertheless, that the lawyer held a policy from the company, which it had warranted that the cigars were insurable and also guaranteed that it would insure them against fire, without defining what is considered to be unacceptable fire and was obligated to pay the claim.

Rather than endure lengthy and costly appeal process, the insurance company accepted the ruling and paid $15,000 to the lawyer for his loss of the cigars lost in the "fires".

NOW FOR THE BEST PART.

After the lawyer cashed the check, the insurance company had him arrested on 24 counts of ARSON!!!

With his own insurance claim and testimony from the previous case being used against him, the lawyer was convicted of intentionally burning his insured property and was sentenced to 24 months in jail and a $24,000 fine.

This is a true story and was the First Place winner in the recent Criminal Lawyers Award Contest."

Complaints

Time to update again. Started off quite well but our timetable turned into a disaster when one of our lecturers left HELP. No clear reasons and no advance notice were given. Many classes were cancelled and other lecturers took leave. So, you can imagine the number of replacement classes we have to attend in these few weeks. I have classes from Monday to Saturday this week.

So many complaints as you see. Well, I just can’t understand why most of the Malaysian lecturers are so irresponsible.

Anyway, enough of complains, I was so grumpy just because of all these. Just hope that everything will be better.

Have a nice day!

A Short Trip to Malacca

The commencement of a new study year. It felt so familiar yet so unfamiliar to me. Well, probably it's because they combined all 3 intakes together and we were separated into 2 lectures. Of course, we get different lecturers for different subjects. I miss one of my previous lecturers, Miss Kay Mi, who taught us Contract and Constitutional and Administration Law. At the very beginning, we were not used to her teachings. We thought that she was being sarcastic and trying to criticise everything and everyone around us. But eventually we found that she's a really hardworking and devoted lecturer. She would try her very best to make us understand, making lectures interesting as possible, calling out our names just to make sure that we stay alert, scolding us to motivate us to study. During my first lecture on the Sale of Goods, her voice was singing in my mind. How I wish she would teach us this subject.

Anyway, cut the crap. I just hope everything will be fine in this coming study year. Lecturers warned us that our workload will double or triple compared to the previous year. Scary...

Well, enough of my studies. During my holidays, I went to Malacca with Yee Siong. Though it was a short trip, I enjoyed myself throughout the whole trip. It's always good to leave KL for some time just to relax your mind. Here're some of the photos. For photos on food, please visit Sugar Bean! Have a nice day!

Holiday!

I realised that I haven't been typing much in my blog lately. At least I have not been typing something long and expressive for quite some time. Well, I find it hard to express myself in my blog ever since... Well, I don't even remember when. I was reading my previous posts. Wow, I was surprised by the way I describe my own feelings and things which happened few years back. I am not able and never will be able to write so freely as I did before.

I was going through those posts which I've written when I was in the UK and I read some of the comments left by my friends. Even until now, I felt so touch reading those comments given by my friends. I guess that's the best thing you get in blogging. To gain support from your friends, knowing that they care for you. I'm so glad that I have you guys as my friends. I wouldn't be continuing this blog if I haven't got all the feedbacks from you guys. Thanks.

Anyway, I'm in the midst of having a holiday. So what have I done so far? Nothing. Haha! I guess that's the best thing of having a holiday right? To get some rest. The older you grow, the lesser time you'll have for your family, friends and eventually, yourself. So, I've really got to enjoy every single moment in this holiday. Oh, and by the way, happy merdeka day!

I've been spending more time managing the new blog rather than this blog. But no worries, I'll still post at least once a month in this blog. After my exam, I'll spend more time in this. Anyway, have a happy day!! :)
